Charleston County Parks and Rec is starting their Toast Under the Oaks series tonight in James Island County Park! From 5:30-7:30pm there will be live music, and food, like empanadas from Papa Grande Comfort and falafel and gyros from Zimos Gyro. Buy tickets here.
Friday, March 15th
Patties for St. Patty’s! Fi Mi Foods, local Jamaican food purveyor, is serving homemade corned beef and cabbage patties for St. Patty’s! They’re popping up at Proof on King Street from 6-10pm.
It’s Maison’s five year anniversary! They’re doing happy hour at the bar all night and food specials to celebrate!
Saturday, March 16th
007 but make it…St. Patrick’s! Fatty’s Beer Works is having a combo “St. Fatty’s Day” and 007-themed 7th anniversary party. Starting at noon, Fatty’s will have food from Smash City Burgers and live music.
Charleston Night Bazaar, the local artisan night market, happens at Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co (the one on King! Not to be confused with Edmund’s Oast Restaurant on Morrison) every third Saturday from 5-9pm.
Tradesman Brewing Co. is having a “Girl Scout cookie and beer pairing” from 2-6pm, benefitting troop #4310. Both gluten-free and vegan options will be available, too!
As part of the Historic Charleston Foundation’s 77th Charleston Festival’s Charleston by Design series, the local restaurant/design power couple behind Basic Projects, Ben and Kate Towill, will be doing a lecture at Second Presbyterian Church on Meeting at 10am. If you’re a fan of the incredible design features at the Post House Inn, Basic Kitchen or Sullivan’s Fish Camp, then you might be interested in this! I’m going! Chubby Fish is hosting a wine dinner with sommelier Rajat Parr, featuring his wines. There will be seatings at 6pm and 8:30pm. Tickets are $300 and you can reserve by emailing kate@chubbyfishcharleston.com.

Sightsee’s Sunday pop-up this week is in partnership with Batik, a Charleston-based pop-up and private dining company. Aaron and Caroline from Batik will be serving up Southeast Asian food on Sightsee’s back patio from 10am to 1pm.

Another Charleston Festival event: Hotel Emeline is hosting Charleston-based mixologists, the Cocktail Bandits for two nights of cocktail workshops! Book here for tickets on either March 19th or April 2nd.
Thursday, March 21st
Crosby’s Fish and Shrimp’s food truck is back open after having to close early due to the weather last weekend. The food truck is open Thursday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm.

New openings
XO Brasserie officially opened on March 12th in the NoMo neighborhood, serving a “modern take” on Cantonese and Sichuan dishes. You can reserve on Resy, and see more about their menu in this recent piece from Eater Carolinas. We’re headed there on Saturday to try it out, and I’m looking forward to the crab rangoon, XO pasta, and mapo tofu!
The newest Ruby’s Bagels location is officially opening in North Mount Pleasant! You can find it across from the Costco, in the Sweetgrass Pharmacy Plaza/Carolina Park area. It’ll be open seven days a week from 7am to 3pm, as will the other three locations from now on.

Close! It’s ice cream. Life Raft Treats, a Charleston-based artisan ice cream company founded by six-time James Beard Award semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef, Chef Cynthia Wong, has just released a limited edition “ice cream ramen bowl”, only on Goldbelly. If you’ve been to Chubby Fish, you might have enjoyed Life Raft’s Not Fried Chicken dessert. This new limited edition ramen bowl is made of miso-vanilla ice cream “broth” in a chocolate bowl, with sesame cookie crumble and yuzu-coconut ice cream “noodles,” “shrimp,” and “eggs,” and tinted white chocolate “green onions” and “fish cakes” and looks SO COOL.

Plant-based and gluten-free Nordic Cooking just released their Easter bread sale! They’ve got gluten-free baguettes and rosemary foccacia, and everything’s available for pickup in Charleston on March 30th. Ordering and pickup details on their site here.
The Oscars of Charleston restaurants and bars 🏆The Best of Charleston 2024 nominees are in and you can now place your final votes on the best restaurants and bars in the city! Voting closes March 22nd!
Coming up
Strawberry season is just around the corner here in SC🍓Wabi Sabi Farm in Cordesville (less than an hour from Charleston) is opening up again for U-pick strawberries soon! You can also get their berries from Community Supported Grocery when available, or check out the list of local community-based farmers markets from the Department of Ag to get your hot little hands on some perfectly ripe berries soon!
On March 24th at noon, Wine Shop OV in the Old Village is hosting a “create & sip class”, during which you can DIY your own oyster shell trinket dishes! Tickets are $35 and available for purchase here.
On April 7th, Kultura is hosting two seatings of a special Los Primos dinner, in collaboration with Oaxacan chef Luis Martinez of Tequio Foods. Chefs Nikko and Luis will be cooking a six-course Filipino Oaxacan menu, with seatings at 5pm (book on Resy here) and 7:30pm (Resy link here for that later seating!)
Husk is hosting the team from Tatomer Wines (a California-based company that specializes in dry Rieslings and Grüners) for a wine dinner on Sunday April 28th at 6pm. Tickets available on Resy here.
