The "Me Espresso" coffee debuts at the Ryder Hotel, Off Track just released THE most perfect ice cream flavor for fall, and Blackbird's treating you at NINE different local spots!
The start of a new month often means the start of a bunch of new opportunities for free food and drinks with Blackbird, the restaurant loyalty program/app, (currently in Charleston and NYC). There seem to be even more lil deals than usual in September, so I’ve marked the Blackbird specials with some asterisks under their respective days this week to make it easy for you to plan!

Lupara’s fine Italian foods will be popping up at Babas on Cannon from 5pm onwards (first come first served)! Babas is promising lots of fresh truffle and frozen amaro, too.
From today through the 15th, Indigo Road Hospitality Group is hosting their own Restaurant Week! There will be special three-course menus at their restaurants Brasserie La Banque, Indaco, O-Ku, Maya, Oak Steakhouse, and the Kingstide.
Friday, September 6th
Sipland, a Charleston-born resource and curated marketplace for both folks seeking a break from alcohol and folks who prefer low-ABV or non-alcoholic options, is launching a new residency at The Charleston Place: The After School Special. Through September 29th, Sipland will be hosting an espresso martini bar at the Carriage House in Market Street Circle, featuring both alcoholic and non-alcoholic espresso martinis. The bar will be open from 1 pm to 6 pm Thursday through Sunday, and you can learn more from their Instagram post.
Estadio is bringing back Bar Estrella, their Champagne and chips concept, yet again! Skurnik Wines will be leading the drinks, alongside some imported Lay’s, but folks will also be able to pre-order bottles of limited-release Champagnes from Estadio ahead of the holidays, too. Saturday, September 7th
All of the “new kids on the block” on Rutledge are having a grand opening party! Sightsee, jewelry store AL & EM, no-waste refill store Wake Refill, and clothing store Nette are coming together for an epic block party. Sunday, September 8th
Bangin’ Vegan Eats and Lil Sprout are hosting a “lunch and sweets” event at House of Brews in West Ashley, from noon to 4pm!
Monday, September 9th
It’s Spaghetti Western night at Graft from 5-8pm! They’ll be featuring Portovino Wines and the Little will be serving up…you guessed it…spaghetti! Check out their Instagram post for more info.
Learn the Charleston, in Charleston! The event space in Hank’s Seafood Restaurant is hosting a swing dance class in partnership with Holy City Swing! Tickets include bites from Hank’s Seafood as well as an open bar, and they can be purchased here.

Wednesday, September 11th
Every Wednesday this month, Korean corndog truck Seol Ah’s will be popping up at Tobin’s Market from 5-9pm, with sake-tinis, too! For my fellow non-meat-eaters, Seol Ah’s usually has all-mozzarella dogs.
Stretch N’ Sip Yoga is doing puppy yoga again at Palmetto Brewing! From 6:30-7:30, get your stretching and puppy fawning on! The event will benefit Southern Tails for Palmetto Paws, and for more on how to register, check out their Instagram post.

Through September, Basic Projects is partnering with Blackbird for Wednesday Locals Nights: you’ll get a free drink at Basic Kitchen, Sullivan’s Fish Camp, or the Post House Inn with a food purchase.
Every Wednesday in September, Little Jack’s Tavern is giving folks who check in a free Tavern Burger and side: for lunch or dinner, all day.
Renzo is giving free pizzas to dine-in customers who order a pizza and check in on the Blackbird app. Reservations are recommended, but not necessary!
From 4-9pm on Wednesdays in September, the Tippling House is giving a free glass of wine (and cheese) to folks who check in using Blackbird. They’ll switch up the wine and cheese each week, but this past week, they doled out some French cows’ milk cheese with peach preserves and some Brandon’s Bread alongside glasses of white from Domaine Arnaud Lambert in the Loire Valley. Follow them on Instagram for their weekly wine and cheese picks this month.
Bodega is giving a free coffee to everyone who checks in with Blackbird on Wednesdays this month!
Thursday, September 12th
Sorelle’s Andiamo Guest Chef Series continues tonight and tomorrow night, featuring Memphis-based chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman (who both went to culinary school in Charleston!) Both dinners will focus on Italian cuisine, with tonight’s featuring a prix fixe menu that you can explore by swiping through their Instagram post here. Friday’s is a smaller dinner (only 10 seats available!) with a seven-course dinner in Sorelle’s private dining room. Buy a ticket for Thursday or Friday to secure a spot.
Tonight starts a four-day takeover of Kultura by Caribo Flip, a Puerto Rican food experience. You can buy tickets on Resy for this limited-time event, from the 12th through 16th.
Lil’ updates
Are you a carpenter (aka a Sabrina Carpenter fan)? The Ryder Hotel is celebrating her new album Short N’ Sweet by introducing their new coffee drink: the Me Espresso! Available until October 1st, the Me Espresso is an iced double espresso with strawberry cold foam and a sprinkle of strawberry dust.
Leave it to Off Track Ice Cream to ring in the arrival of fall in the most perfect way…they’ve just announced a new limited-time flavor: vegan pumpkin cookies & cream blondie! It’s made with pumpkin spiced oat milk ice cream and house-made cookies & cream blondie chunks…brb while I RUN there.
Munkle Brewery is starting a new happy hour, or Munk Hour! Monday through Friday from 4-6pm, they’re doing $2 off all full pours, glasses of wine, and ciders (I love their grapefruit cider!) Plus, while the train is passing by their building (usually every weekday at 4pm), all beers will be half price. Train beers for everyone! !
Baguette Magic has a new fall menu! Highlights include: a churro Kouign Amann, guava pop tarts, and a dirty horchata latte. Check out their full menu on Instagram.
I LOVE when Porchetta Shop does vegetarian sandwiches! They just released a new special sandwich with grilled and marinated summer squash, chili crisp from Red Clay Hot Sauce, mint, arugula, and salsa rossa. Check it out in their Reel below!
I wrote last week about the opening of Bar Copa on James Island. They have changed their hours since: they’re now open Monday through Thursday with bar hours from 4-11pm and kitchen hours from 4-10pm, and Friday and Saturday, the bar will be open from 3-11pm and kitchen from 4-10pm.
New openings
This isn’t a restaurant, but Goodie Bag, a surplus food marketplace and food waste reduction effort, is launching in Charleston tomorrow, Friday September 6th! The app connects users with unsold but perfectly good food from local businesses like the Daily, Bodega, and Atlyss Food Collective, at discounted prices for pickup.
You can get $6 worth of credits by downloading the app and joining the waitlist before their launch tomorrow!
Farewells
Many of you may have heard that Fatty’s Beer Works’ taproom is closing soon. They’re going out with a bang this weekend, with food trucks and live music every night! On Friday, Mastro’s Fire will be slinging wood-fired pizzas from noon to 4pm, and Dave’s Smoke and Tacos will be there from 4-9pm. Mastro’s Fire will be back on Saturday at noon, too. On Sunday, Smash City Burgers will be doing their thing from 2-6pm! For more deets on the live music, check out Fatty’s post on Instagram.
Coming up
September 17th: Omakase at 167 Sushi Bar…say no more. They’ll be doing 13 courses of nigiri, izakaya, and dessert, with an optional sake pairing, too. Book on Resy…looks like there’s only a few reservations for the 5:30 seating left!
September 29th: Chef Nikko of Kultura is collaborating with Wild Dunes Resort to host a beachside Filipino barbecue. Wild Dunes Lead Bartender Jessica Backhus will be there mixing up tropical drinks and Filipino-inspired cocktails, too! The Filipino feast will happen at the Grand Pavillion North Pool at Wild Dunes Resort from 2-8pm rain or shine. Buy tickets here, which will get you entry to the event, access to the Wild Dunes resort’s pool and private beach, a themed reception beverage, a serving of the lechon, and complimentary valet parking.
