Lil’ updates
Have y’all been to Legami yet? The new Italian restaurant just opened last week on King Street. I have a reservation for next week, and am dying to try their Legami Martini which combines three of my absolute FAVORITE things: Calabrian chilis, Castelvetrano olives, and burrata. The Legami Martini is made with Calabrian chili olive oil washed vodka, Castelvetrano olive brine, microplaned parmesan, and BURRATA-STUFFED OLIVES (how have I never thought to do that?!)
FIG and the Ordinary, helmed by wonderful chef and leader Mike Lata, have come together with a bunch of other local restaurants to raise money for the Southern Smoke Foundation. The Holy City Hospitality Fund organized by these restaurants will further SSF’s work supporting food & beverage workers affected by Hurricane Helene. Through the end of October, if you visit one of the restaurants listed in the caption of the Instagram post below, a portion of proceeds will go to the Holy City Hospitality Fund.
The Tippling House has a new dish for just a limited time, and it looks so good! Their locally caught shrimp from Tarvin Seafood is on toast and topped with benne seeds and a green tomato chili sauce.
Hell yes! Life Raft Treats is doing local pick up again! Their Not Fried Chicken® buckets are available for pick up from their factory in North Charleston from Wednesday to Friday each week, from 10am-2pm. (Note that these days/times may change during the holidays!)
Another exciting Life Raft Treats update that is just perfect for a Halloween party…they have released a new Life Raft Treats® Cookies + Cream Ice Cream Haunted Doll!! The doll is 9 1/2 inches long, and made with vanilla ice cream and dark chocolate cookies in a white chocolate “porcelain” shell. It looks like they’re sold out of the Haunted Doll for Charleston pick up right now, but don’t worry, they also have a SEVERED LEG ice cream that can serve up to 25! The severed leg is made with dark chocolate ice cream, a cookies + cream candy bar “tibia”, tinted white chocolate "flesh" and "blood." I’m obsessed! And a little scared.
Columbia-based Sakhar Jams just announced a special new flavor coming out on 10/21: fig and saffron! They’re only making a limited supply of what they’re calling this “unicorn jam” so stay tuned to their Instagram for some behind-the-scenes peeks and info on how to buy!
Speaking of figs, the James’ “figroni” cocktail sounds perfect for the start of fall! It features fig-infused Campari, Aperol and vermouth.
New openings
La Cave, the “elevated sipping lounge and salon privé” from the team behind Félix, just opened today! It’s located right next door to Félix. If you’re going this week, let me know what you think!
Roseline, a “funky neighborhood hangout” will be opening in a few weeks in Sightsee’s old spot on Line Street. You’ll remember how small the old Sightsee was; Roseline’s space will only be 429 square feet! Perfect for a warm and cozy nightcap as falls sets in. Peep the gorgeous transformed space below and follow them on Instagram for updates on their upcoming opening!
Coming up
October 26th: Tacos de la Bahia will be at Sightsee to continue Sightsee’s fifth birthday celebrations! They’re promising breakfast-y tacos and some quesadillas!
October 27th: Merci is popping up at Graft Wine Shop from 3-6pm for Good Neighbor Sunday! Chef Michael Zentner will be there serving some European-inspired dishes, like their focaccia (whose deliciousness I can personally attest to!) and a seasonal cinnamon-apple ice cream.
October 27th: Revelry Brewing is throwing a big tenth birthday bash benefitting an amazing local non-profit, the Green Heart Project. There will be food by Da Toscano Fugazzi (of course!) but also 167 Raw, Kultura, and Millers All Day. Plus, ice cream from Mon Frere Glace!
That’s a wrap!
