Lil updates
Have you guys SEEN Bright Light Bakery’s pumpkin-shaped original sourdough loaves? I am obsessed! I picked up a couple of these yesterday and whipped up a little pumpkin honey butter to eat it with, too. “Recipe” for that butter is below. You can order Bright Light Bakery’s sourdough loaves and treats here for porch pick-up on Fridays and downtown pick-up at Azur on Wednesday afternoons. She’ll also be at Second Sunday on King Street this weekend! P.S. I also love the rosemary & thyme, garlic & rosemary, and cheesy jalapeno loaves, too.
I made the pumpkin butter by combining: one stick of softened butter (I like Truly Grassfed for regular butter, Miyoko’s for vegan butter), four teaspoons of pumpkin puree, one tablespoon of (Charleston-based!) Red Clay Hot Sauce barrel-aged salted Bourbon honey, 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a pinch of nutmeg. I stirred until the mixture was uniform, spooned into two little bowls like the above, and chilled those in the fridge.
Xiao Bao Biscuit is selling sauces! They’re now selling their house made chili crisp and yu xiang sauces. If you want to add these to your kitchen, buy them at the bar or ask your server next time you eat there.

New openings
King Street is getting two new European-inspired spots this week!
I wrote about this last week, but didn’t know Legami would be opening quite so soon! Charleston’s newest Italian restaurant is now open on King Street, and the interiors look beautiful. Learn more from Eater about the owner, Eldredge Ropolo, and his plans for the place, check out the menus on Legami’s website, or make a reservation on Resy to see for yourself!
La Cave, Félix’s new “elevated sipping lounge and salon privé”, located just next door, will open on October 17th. There will be wine, cocktails, and small plates, including caviar service. Check out the space in the Instagram Reel below, and learn more from the Post & Courier here.
Eater is also reporting that chef Michael Toscano, who must be incredibly busy already running Le Farfalle, Porchetta Shop, and da Toscano Fugazzi at Revelry Brewing (not to mention his restaurant in NYC!) is opening a NEW place! Blanca Estrada will be a pop-up taco stand right next door to Le Farfalle, in the space where the UPS Store used to be until very recently! I’m so excited to see how his team transforms that space.
Farewells
It’s the end of an era at Bar Rollins…their last night at their current space will be on Sunday, October 27th. Sad news, as they have hosted some wonderful pop-ups, parties, and collaborations since they opened just over two years ago. Bar Rollins was where I had my first Welton’s wood-fired pizza right after we moved to Charleston :( Luckily, this is not a forever goodbye! They’re looking for a new and bigger space for Bar Rollins 2.0. If you know of something, give them a shout!
