Happy unofficial start of summer! FIG is celebrating this warm weather and June produce by bringing back their tomato tarte tatin, and Annie O’Loves Cafe is serving us fruity deliciousness with their new ‘fruits of life’ seasonal menu.

The Preservation Society of Charleston and the M.A.R.S.H. Project are joining forces to teach you how to make your property and community more resilient. Learn more about the M.A.R.S.H. Sightsee is hosting some pals for a summer market from 11am-2pm, including wood-fired grub from First Name Basis!
Celebrate rosé season! Josh Walker of Wine & Company and
(who has an awesome wine-focused Substack and teaches wine classes that I highly recommend!) are duking it OUT with a rosé showdown! From 3-6pm at Wine & Company, they’ll each be pouring three of their favorite rosés in a tasting format, along with special rosé inspired snacks curated by Walker and O’Kelley available for purchase (while supplies last). To make the event a real showdown, attendees will be given scorecards to choose their faves. May the best rosé win! Stop by anytime between 3-6pm, $15 gets you in on the tasting.
Odd Duck Market is turning two and celebrating with a birthday party in their courtyard from 4-7pm. JM Bros Provisions will be there cooking up pizza and other Italian-style snacks, but most importantly, a portion of sales from the party will be donated to Nikki Duncan, who used to manage Mellow Mushroom in West Ashley. After moving from Charleston to Asheville, NC, both of her sons were diagnosed with Li‑Fraumeni Syndrome, an inherited cancer‑predisposition disorder. Heartbreakingly, last month, Nikki and her husband lost their son James to cancer, and Nikki is currently fighting three different cancers and undergoing chemotherapy. Piccolo Spoleto’s Keys for a Cause event benefitting Meals on Wheels of Charleston is back! Tonight at the Charleston Area Senior Center from 5-7pm, enjoy dueling pianos, an open bar, and light bites from Swig & Swine. Meals on Wheels is a national organization, and our local Charleston chapter and their volunteers work to improve the health and quality of life of our local seniors so that no one is left hungry or isolated. My mom has been a volunteer for years…go Mom! Get tickets here.
The Charleston AAPI Collective’s celebrations of AAPI Heritage Month are culminating in a Night Market! From 6-9pm in the Storehouse 9 building in the Navy Yard, check out local AAPI vendors and artisans, including SO MUCH delicious food, like Sarah’s Dumps, Aswang Noodle Club, Pink Bellies, King BBQ, Shaka Shrimp, Bok Choy Boy, Seol Ah’s, and sweet treats from Silk Road Bakery and Butter Half Bakery.

Yayyyy! The new CHS Vegan Collective, led by Lilly of Lil Sprout Vegan Desserts and Amie from Bangin’ Vegan Eats, are doing their first market today. From noon to 4pm at the Garden by Charles Towne Fermentory, find vendors like Hey Crow Bakery, Globetrotter Granola, Pizza da Michelino (slinging vegan pies, of course!), the Gully Vegan, and Three Girls on Spring (plus BVE and Lil Sprout, too!) This sounds so lovely…Slow Food Charleston is hosting a free, family-friendly community potluck in partnership with the Charleston Parks Conservancy and the City of Charleston’s Cultural Affairs Office. Head to Mulberry Park and Food Forest in West Ashley from 2-5pm to join the celebration! Slow Food Charleston is bringing the main dish for the potluck, and attendees are invited to bring a side, appetizer, beverage or dessert to share.

It’s the first Monday Market at Lillian’s! From 4-6pm, head to Lillian’s to shop from different local vendors and enjoy happy hour at their downstairs coffee bar.
At 7pm at Wine Shop OV, join Ferment & Flourish for their Unlocking the Art of Fermentation and Pickling class. Wine Shop OV will provide drinks, and see more info on how to reserve a spot below.
Tuesday, June 3rd
Park Circle Pride kicks off today! It’s the 5th anniversary of Park Circle Pride, and over FORTY events are happening from today through the 8th. Proceeds benefit two non-profits doing amazing work to support our local LGBTQ+ community: Alliance for Full Acceptance (AFFA), who advocate for LGBTQ+ rights across South Carolina, and We Are Family, who provide safe spaces and resources for LGBTQ+ youth. There are lots of food and bev focused events going on as part of the festival, including the Pride flag raising at Commonhouse Aleworks tonight, Starlight Motor Inn’s Pride happy hour and pool party on Wednesday, Jackrabbit Filly’s Proud & Lau-d Dinner on Thursday, Stems & Skins’ Vinyl Drag Night Show on Thursday, and Odd Duck Market’s “Book Tasting” in partnership with Itinerant Literate on Friday, which will pair their favorite LGBTQ+ books with wine samples! De Mare Raw Bar is popping up at Berkeley’s from noon-9pm today!
La Cave is hosting a tasting dinner, with five courses paired with different Champagnes. Dishes include a vichyssoise with crispy leeks as well as a potato cake with a Storey Farms egg inside, topped with caviar, among others. Book the 6pm or 9pm seating on Resy.
Thursday, June 5th
Taka Izakaya will be back at All My Exes with their Japanese-inspired bar food menu, including a tuna tartare with tonnato and nori wraps, and a Raven Farms lion’s mane mushroom skewer. Stop by from 5pm onwards!

Annie O’Loves Cafe just dropped their new seasonal menu: fruits of life! Perfect for the arrival of summer, they’ve got strawberry shortcake sandwich cookies and key lime love child cookies, among lots of other fruity goodness. All vegan and gluten-free, as always! Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. is launching a new menu soon! Stay tuned for more deets, but catch your current faves there through Sunday. Praying they don’t get rid of my beloved nachos, lol.

The tomato tarte tatin is back at FIG, marking the official start of tomato season in Charleston. Call ahead before you go to check that they’re available!
Berkeley’s has fried green tomatoes with spicy ranch this week! A classic.
Another Southern staple, hummingbird cake, is available from Roxa at Middleton Place Restaurant. How beautiful does it look? This gluten-free treat is comprised of hummingbird cake, caramel pudding, a cream cheese chantilly, and pineapple curd.
Rebel Taqueria is bringing back their tuna poké crunch tacos on June 3rd! The wonton shells are stuffed with yellowfin tuna tossed in their poké dressing, plus seaweed salad and togarashi crunch.
