Charleston is wrapping up Women’s History Month with a bang this week! In addition to Edmund’s Oast celebrating female winemakers on the last day of the month, the Feminist Magic Market will be in Park Circle on Saturday, with some of my faves like Bright Light Bakery, Mabel Mae’s, and Whip Wagon representing. Female chefs are also cooking up some special dinners this week: Saturday is private chef Ali Ramee’s next Ali Huriyali dinner, and chef and food writer Amethyst Ganaway will be at Kultura to cook up a six-course Filipino Lowcountry dinner with chef Nikko Cagalanan on Wednesday.
As always, allllll the deets are below. Have a great rest of the week and weekend!

This isn’t an event AT a restaurant, BUT if you love our local restaurants as much as I do, then I think you’ll enjoy this art show. Guest Check Sketch will have their first studio show ever, at Hed Hi Gallery tonight from 6-10pm. Check out more of their work on Instagram here. They’re an awesome follow that I recommend if you’re interested in the intersection between historical preservation and the food & bev industry here.

New openings
One of my favorite pop-ups has found a new home! De Mare Raw Bar is starting a residency at the Daily on April 4th. Substack won’t let me embed their IG posts, but they were kind enough to share some images with me. They do such a beautiful job plating and highlighting seafood, from oysters to scallops to tuna! Follow De Mare Raw Bar on Instagram for more deets around their opening.
Chef Ken Vedrinski (of Coda del Pesce) has a new spot that just opened downtown, in Laurel’s former space. Vedrinski will be serving up Italian cuisine, family-style. Book on Resy.
Tutti’s inside dining is now open! Thursday through Saturday 4-9pm, and Sunday 3-9pm. Wine and beer are currently BYOB, but luckily you can pop on over to Graft right next door.
Lil’ updates
The Citrus Club at the Dewberry just dropped their new spring menu. I’m particularly excited about their grilled artichoke with a pistachio aillada sauce, their ceviche tacos, and their spring salad featuring one of the most gorgeous varieties of leafy veg, IMO: Castelfranco radicchio.
The Seahorse just announced new spring/summer hours. Starting this week, they’re now open from 5-11pm on Tuesday through Saturday, and are closed Sunday and Monday.
ICYMI, Chef Jason Stanhope is departing Lowland and transitioning to be executive chef and partner at Sullivan’s Seafood and Bar (FKA Sullivan’s Fish Camp) in the coming months. For more on this big move, check out the Post & Courier’s recent coverage.
Here are some other dishes and drinks that caught my eye this week:
Tippling House’s Chef Micah’s Spoon Salad is the stuff of dreams! It’s made with butterbeans, farro, kale, and arugula, topped with purple potato chips and dressed in a Carolina reaper benne dressing.
Kultura just announced a new dessert: their Buko Pie-ish is a “deconstructed young coconut pie”, made with coconut sorbet, whipped coconut cream, and puff pastry. Looks divine.
The Obstinate Daughter just launched three new spring desserts: a cream cheese pound cake with roasted strawberries and a coconut lemon gelato, a honey pot de creme with caramelized banana cream and candied peanuts, and a chocolate sticky cake with chocolate caramel and coffee gelato.
Annie O’Loves Cafe’s new Flower Power Blueberry Lemon Lavender Love Child cookie is so beautiful. It’s made from a blueberry lemon lavender banana bread cookie, plus a pool of house-made berry jam and a chunk of lemon vegan cheesecake. As always, this is vegan, gluten free, and processed sugar free.
Husk’s new cocktail, Wendy Peppercorn, sounds so good! It’s made with strawberry and pink peppercorn infused tequila, Campari, pineapple and lime.
I need this: FIG’s house-made tortelli are filled with blue crab and topped with sauce américaine, lemon, and chive.
That’s a wrap!
