J. Stark and Neighborly are hosting a sip & shop event from 5-8pm, with live music, drinks, and embroidery by Fast Doll (who does SUCH cool work!) I’ve been following J. Stark’s newest product launches, and I have my eye on quite a few things…I’m loving the bright colors they have in stock for spring.
Follow me on Instagram for real-time updates on the best events and dishes in Charleston this upcoming week:
New openings
New York-inspired sandwich food truck the Wedge will soon be opening a storefront. No specifics yet, but follow them on Instagram for more updates.
Another congrats goes out to Grit Bakery, a local wholesale bakery, who are also working on opening up a retail space soon. Follow them on Instagram to learn where you can find their bread and pastries once they open.
It appears the folks behind Chico Feo might be opening a wine bar on their front porch soon…peep Vino Feo’s new account on IG and learn more about their beach wine plans.
Lil’ updates
Some of you may know and love Lola’s Lumpia, a Filipino food truck based in North Charleston. One of the owners, Mark, had a terrible fall last week, resulting in a brain bleed, a fractured skull, and multiple broken ribs. Mark and his family could use support from our community as they manage medical expenses and lost income while he heals. You can help by donating to the GoFundMe here.
I’m absolutely thrilled that The Harbinger and Harken have written a cookbook, published by Mise En Place Boutique Publishing. I can’t wait to learn how to make my favorite pastries, sandwiches, and salads at home very soon. You can pre-order their cookbook here, and pre-orders will ship early May.
Tutti, the Graft team’s new pizza spot that just opened just last weekend, is debuting a new pie: their square pizza. You can order here (or in person) from Thursday through Saturday from 4-9pm, or Sundays from 3-9pm (for takeout only).
Here are some dishes and drinks that caught my eye this week:
Vintage Coffee Cafe’s shamrock iced matcha is based on the Irish flag. It’s made with an orange-infused matcha and vanilla sweet cream cold foam.
Another fun St. Patty’s Day special: Kudu’s Irish cream cold foam cold brew. Look at that foam.
There are few things in this world that I love more than mushroom ‘bacon’, and this weekend, Baguette Magic has marinated mushrooms that you can add to or sub into your BEC sandwiches. While supplies last, and only at their Folly Road location!
Rebel Taqueria just added a roasted rainbow carrot taco to their menu, which is served with their Cali slaw and slathered in coconut curry. YUM.
King BBQ’s newest cocktail, below, is made with Ten to One rum, mango, pineapple, cucumber, and coconut water. Sounds refreshing and perfect for spring.
Today, Off Track Ice Cream just released the second of their three new spring flavors: raspberry cheesecake! This flavor has a raspberry base, and bite-sized pieces of their pastry chef’s house-made raspberry cheesecake. Bonus for my GF readers, the cheesecake crust was made with GF vanilla wafers, so this flavor is GF, too.
HUGE news, which is that the Harbinger’s green tomato Caprese sandwich is back! It’s made with their house ciabatta, pea pesto, mozz, green tomatoes, a whipped avocado cream, and arugula. I gotta get back there soon.
Delaney Oyster House’s bada bing tart cherry negroni sounds divine, plus tart cherry juice is packed with anti-inflammatories, so…it’s basically good for you!
Coming up
Charleston-based Prosecco brand Don Luchi is about to launch a rosé! They’ve got a whole line up of awesome launch events next weekend, from a caviar class at Coterie to an afternoon official launch at Charleston’s most pink hotel, the Mills House. Check out all the info here, and I’ll include these events in my newsletter next week, too.
That’s a wrap!
