This week’s specials:
Friday, March 1st
Post-send update: newly-announced deals!
Remember when I wrote last week about the new NFT-based loyalty program Blackbird? Well, Blackbird is treating everyone who “taps in” to the Daily on Friday *using the Blackbird app* to a FREE espresso or coffee drink. Deets on their Instagram here, including the QR code to download the app. (For what it’s worth, I did end up “tapping in” to Leon’s last week and nothing happened…so the perks seem unpredictable/unclear so far.)
Check out the Pass’ latest Reel for the situation in their words, and why they’re clarifying that the Pass is for everyone! Post a photo or video of you saying “the Pass is for me” on your Instagram story on Friday & show it to them to receive 20% off your order (walk-up only, not online orders).
It’s the second day of the Clare V. trunk show hosted by Basic Projects, the Charleston-based restaurant and design power couple behind Basic Kitchen, the Post House Inn, and Sullivan’s Fish Camp. Clare herself will be set up in the Rose Room at the Post House Inn from 9am to noon. RSVP via events@clarev.com.
Crosby’s Fish & Shrimp has a new food truck and is back open for the season this weekend! Their grand reopening runs from the 29th to the 2nd of March, 11am to 4pm. Check out their 2024 menu here!
Saturday, March 2nd
Ruby’s Bagels is doing a “pre-grand opening” for their new North Mount Pleasant location (3481 Park Avenue Boulevard…near the Costco). They’ll have free bagels and coffee starting at 10am (first come-first served! But their kitchen is not open yet, FYI) and are featuring some local adoptable puppies (named after bagel flavors, of course!) at 11am, in partnership with Meowdog Animal Rescue. Look at the CUTIES in the bagel litter:
Prophet Coffee in Park Circle is celebrating their first birthday already, and they’re throwing a block party! From 10am-3pm, Shaka Shrimp will be serving their delicious Hawaiian dishes, and there’ll be birthday cake and pastries. From 5-8pm, Seol Ah’s will be selling their Korean corndogs, and there will be beer, martinis, and a DJ!
Charleston-based to-go salad chain Verde is throwing a “saladbration” at their HQ in Park Circle for their three new Charleston area locations. Their Grand Opening Eat & Greet event is free to attend, and will have greens (of course), local vendors, kids’ activities, and giveaways. The Eat & Greet will go from noon to 2pm at their headquarters located at 4731 Mixson Avenue.
This is the last of the 10 nights of Chef Shin Horiguchi’s omakase experience at the Charleston Place Thoroughbred Club! Book through Resy here.
Sunday, March 3rd
Sightsee is hosting FiMi Foods’ first ever pop-up! FiMi Foods is a local Black- and veteran-owned business specializing in Jamaican food, and they’ll be serving patties (with vegan options!) and coco bread on Sightsee’s patio, from 10am to 1pm. Check out the patties and find more details on Sightsee’s Instagram post here.
Monday, March 4th
Chef Ashton Keefe is hosting a French Riviera-themed cooking class at the Restaurant at Zero George at 6:30pm. The class will feature a three-course menu and low-intervention wines. Sign up via Resy here. UPDATE: Looks like it’s sold out, but you can set a Notify in case there are cancellations.
Wednesday, March 6th
On the first Wednesday of each month, Kultura hosts the Aswang Noodle Club (Resy link here). This month, the menu item they’re teasing is a mentaiko “spaghetti” made with creamy roasted garlic sauce, spicy marinated cod roe, scallions, Parm, and shredded nori. As you can image, it looks divine:
The Charleston Wine + Food Festival starts on the 6th and goes through the 10th! The festival is largely based out of North Charleston’s Riverfront Park, and the schedule features lots of local restaurants, including Frannie & the Fox, Chubby Fish, Renzo, Vern’s, Lowland Tavern, and a ton more. A lot of the events are sold out by now, but you can join the waitlist, or search for events with availability on the festival’s site.

New openings!
Bodega opened up a new location in Mount Pleasant on the 27th! Check them out on West Coleman Boulevard for their breakfast and lunch sammies, benedicts, and pancakes.
Lil’ updates
Berkeley’s, the cute outdoor spot near Hampton Park, announced that they’re now open until 10pm Friday and Saturday. (They also carry one of my favorite bottles of Grüner in their little shop inside.)
From March 1st onwards, Sorelle’s bar will open at 4:30pm, instead of 4pm.
Last Saint just released their new cocktail menu today!
Not sure if this is new, but it’s a great deal: Edmund’s Oast Brewing Co. (on King Street, not to be confused with their restaurant on Morrison) does a “Power Hour”! Happening all seven days a week from 4-5pm, when you dine in (in their taproom and courtyard), you get half off all food and drinks. I am strangely addicted to their nachos so you just may see me there at 4pm sometime soon…
Through St. Patty’s Day, the Harbinger is doing Lucky Charms lattes with homemade marshmallows! Looks magically delicious:
Coming up
Welton’s Tiny Bakeshop’s next wood-fired pizza party, Tiny’s, is happening in their alley on March 12th, from 4-7pm! Follow @tinyschs on Instagram for more details.
Chubby Fish is hosting a wine dinner on Saturday, March 16th with sommelier Rajat Parr, featuring his wines. There will be seatings at 6pm and 8:30pm. Tickets are $300 (tax and gratuity aren’t included) and you can reserve by emailing kate@chubbyfishcharleston.com.
Tia Clark, owner of Casual Crabbing with Tia, and Marvin C. Ross, the fifth-generation farmer and owner of Peculiar Pig Farm, are joining up to host an event called Land & Sea on April 20th. The day will start with crabbing on a private dock in downtown Charleston with Tia, and then folks will venture to Dorchester to tour Peculiar Pig Farm, learn about the sustainable agriculture practices they use, and enjoy a low country boil and hog roast. I don’t eat meat, but I still think this sounds like such a cool event if you want to learn more about the people, traditions, nature, and agricultural practices that make the Charleston area such a truly special and unique place. If you’re interested, buy tickets here.
That’s a wrap!
