Sightsee is popping up again on the sidewalk of their new location at 698 Rutledge. Java starts at 8am!
A reminder for my downtown friends that Merci is hosting picnics every Saturday this summer, starting at 9am! I went last weekend and got the BEAUTIFUL and giant focaccia loaf below, and a delicious berry shrub tea. Heads up: starting this Saturday, they’re moving the location around the corner to 126 Wentworth.
LO-Fi Brewing’s “friend festival” called Rose Moon is happening from 6-11:30pm, and the wine and food options sound just as good as the live music! Natty wine bar Bar Rollins will be curating the wine menu, with a focus on rosé, and the folks behind Kwei Fei and Beautiful South are in charge of the six-dish menu. For dessert, Mon Frère will be popping up with ice cream! I’ve missed the past couple Mon Frère pop-ups, but everything they make looks so good! Tickets are $20 in advance and $30 day of on Eventbrite.
Sunday, June 23rd
Merci is hosting the second in their series of pop-ups, this time at Graft’s Good Neighbor Sunday! From 3-6pm there will be wine by the nice folks at Graft, plus a new pop-up menu from Merci’s Chef Michael Zentner.
Heather Hutton, who was the executive pastry chef at the Restaurant at Edmund’s Oast for many years, has started her own “petite dessert bar” called Roxa. She’ll be serving up her lil’ sweet treats at the Belmont on King Street from 5pm until they’re sold out! At her last pop-up, the menu featured dishes like ube sticky toffee pudding, a cherry blossom pavlova, and lavender honey ricotta cheesecake…YUM. Follow Roxa on Instagram for more updates!
Monday, June 24th
Local Korean mandu company Sarah’s Dumps is hosting a dinner pop-up at Odd Duck Market in North Charleston from 5:30 to “7ish”. They’ll have their pork & beef, buffalo chicken and veg dumps, alongside chicken and rice and Mayak eggs on rice, too.

P.S. Sullivan’s Fish Camp also just launched catering. I think this’ll be a great takeout option for group trips to the beach! Nothing better than eating a giant sandwich in a beach chair under the sun. Learn more here.
Pop a bottle of fruit wine from Herb Ertlinger Winery! Bay Street Biergarten is hosting Schitt’s Creek Trivia at 7pm.

New openings
Makan, the second location of D.C.’s Malaysian-inspired restaurant, opened a couple of weeks ago on Rutledge Avenue. I went a couple days ago and really enjoyed their Folly Mornings & Cherating Days cocktail with gin, green Chartreuse, lemon and Thai basil. We also loved their paneer satays with peanut sauce and their sambak oelek. Their spicy Hakka noodles were delicious but PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE SPICE (pro tip: they’ll let you replace the pork in the dish with tofu if you ask nicely).
Lil’ updates
Sightsee is still preparing to open in their new location on Rutledge, and you can support them and prepare for future coffee-drinking by buying a gift card! They’re 20% off through the end of June, so it’s a win-win. More deets are in their recent Instagram post…future you will thank you!
