🌈Pride specials that give back, pt 2🌈
It’s (still) giving…back to our local LGBTQIA+ community!
Snafu’s bringing back their Fairy Duster Orange Creamsicle and their full Pride Flight! Five dollars for every Pride Flight sold will go to Charleston Pride, plus all proceeds from their Snafu Pride stickers will, too. See everything in their post below.
The truly awesome folks at Sightsee are selling Brandywine’s limited-edition Pride 2025 coffee blend this month. For each bag sold, Brandywine is donating a portion of proceeds to the Trevor Project, a nonprofit that provides much needed services and support to LGBTQ+ youth, including a 24/7 crisis line. Donate to the Trevor Project here.
Even better, next weekend (June 21-22), Sightsee is donating a portion of all of their proceeds to the Alliance for Full Acceptance. AFFA is a Charleston-based non-profit that works to achieve, nurture, and defend equality and full acceptance for LGBTQ folks. They run amazing media campaigns around SC, host trainings, advocate for local nondiscrimination ordinances, and give grants to organizations that are working to protect LGBTQ+ youth. (P.S. you can donate to AFFA here.) You better believe I’ll be stopping by Sightsee next weekend for my oat milk matcha with honey, honey!
For even more Pride specials that give back to our local LGBTQIA+ community all month long, check out last week’s newsletter.
Lil updates
Burbage’s Grocery just announced that they’re closing at 1 pm on Saturdays through the rest of the summer. But here’s the good news: they’re also introducing Saturday grits bowls, using Marsh Hen Mill grits and your choice of toppings. Swipe through their post below for more on the gritty goodness.
Starting next Wednesday, Petit Merci just announced new summertime hours, too! They’ll be open Saturdays now (so Wednesday through Saturday) and earlier hours…from 8am-3pm instead of 11am-6pm. They’ll be doing an expanded coffee program plus breakfast treats.
🍅 Tomato szn specials 🍅
Tonight (Thursday), Chez Nous has a tomato appetizer that is what my dreams are made of: tomato and eggs with chervil mayonnaise. Their salads are always 10/10.
Okra and tomatoes right now?! So good. I was lucky enough to try Ma’am Saab’s newest limited-time special, their okra masala, the other night! It’s made with fresh okras in garam masala, Kashmiri chili, tomatoes, and onions, and is just bursting with flavor.
Counter Cheesemongers is bringing back their tomato sandwich on Saturdays, in-shop only! It’s made with Kindlewood Farms tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil on their housemade focaccia.
There’s a new app at Berkeley’s with a perfect pairing: tomatoes and burrata. The dish has two pieces of burrata on top of confit tomato with garlic and a Calabrian chili puree, all finished with arugula, balsamic vinegar and Berkeley’s herb oil.
I NEED to try the Daily’s new griddled tomato sammy, made with their whipped feta, a peach chili crisp, and dill, all on a sesame seed bun.
That’s a wrap!
