Lil’ updates
Little Jack’s Tavern has a new dish that I can’t wait to try: fried cauliflower! Check out their post below for more on the dish, and let me know if you’ve tried it already!
The Harbinger has a whole new summer line up of salads that’ll be on the menu until the end of August. Highlights include their Greek chickpea salad with tortellini, black and green olives, peppers, tomatoes, and feta lemon dill dressing, plus their coconut corn salad with pickled jalapenos, curry cashews, and avocado, served with a peanut vinaigrette.
The Grocery just added two new dishes featuring the produce of the moment: tomatoes. Their heirloom tomato salad is served with feta, chickpea crunch, shallots and pepperoncini, while their green tomato carpaccio is topped with sweet roasted corn, cherry tomatoes, crispy fried green tomato pickles, and “old baioli” (AKA Old Bay aioli…I’m excited about the that combo and the portmanteau-ification of those two words!!!) Check out the green tomato carpaccio below!
A new American Italian spot serving family-style dinners will be opening in late September in the space formerly occupied by Laurel on Rutledge Ave. Volpe’s will be helmed by chef Ken Vedrinski, who owns Coda del Pesce on IOP and used to run Trattoria Lucca downtown, before it closed during COVID. For more on Vedrinski’s plans for Volpe’s, check out the Post & Courier’s recent article.
