The list of specials I’m sending is admittedly late and abridged this week as I’ve been helping with a family health matter. I wanted to send those specials that I already had on the docket as coming up, though! Happy Labor Day weekend!

Saturday, August 31st
Pet Fest, a Clear the Shelters event, is happening at the Wonderer from 10:30am-1:30pm. There will be food, drinks, live music, and most importantly, adoptable animals from five local shelters/rescues: Dorchester Paws, Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary, Pet Helpers, Charleston Animal Society, and Berkeley County Animal Center. The Charleston Wine + Food ice cream social with Mon Frere Glace was cancelled! All ticket holders should be getting refunds based on the latest from CHSWFF.
Monday, September 2nd
Chef Paolo Rossin is hosting a pizza-making class at Frannie & the Fox at 5pm! The menu will include your choice of salad, a plate of meatballs and your pizza. Sign up on Resy.
New openings
Bar Copa, a Mediterranean restaurant and bar on Johns Island, is officially open! Their menu features plates like pan con tomate, whipped feta, scallop crudo, chopped Greek salad with little gem lettuce, and a seasonal burrata dish (currently with peach agrodolce and basil oil). Coming up
September 9th: Learn the Charleston, in Charleston! The event space in Hank’s Seafood Restaurant is hosting a swing dance class in partnership with Holy City Swing! Tickets include bites from Hank’s Seafood as well as an open bar, and they can be purchased here.
September 12th & 13th: Sorelle’s next Andiamo Guest Chef Series will be featuring Memphis-based chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman (who both went to culinary school in Charleston!) Both dinners will focus on Italian cuisine, with Thursday’s featuring a seven-course menu from 5-10pm, and Friday’s is a smaller dinner in Sorelle’s private dining room. September 14th: Today kicks off the first of the fall wine classes that (@grapetotable on Instagram) is hosting at Wine & Company! This class will focus on blind tasting, and her classes later this fall include an intro to Burgundy and an intro to Champagne. All of the classes are currently sold out (ticketing site here), but sometimes she’ll notify folks on Instagram if seats open up!
September 22nd: Charleston Animal Society is headed to the Little Palm for a Tails & Toast adoption event from 11am-3pm! There will be plenty of adoptable dogs, plus mimosas and brunch options from Little Palm as usual. The event is free and open to the public, but Little Palm is encouraging folks to make a reservation.
September 22nd: The SC Aquarium is hosting a Good Catch Dinner at 7pm…have you heard of their Good Catch program, all about how to find local and sustainable seafood? The multi-course, wood-fired dinner will be led by Chef Graham Calabria of Calabria's Fine Foods, and each course will be paired with a member of SC’s local fisherman fleet, including an oyster farmer and shrimper. September 28th: Holy City Brewing and Revelry Brewing are joining forces for a…”fermentation presentation”! Their Where the Wild Things Are event will include sour and barrel aged beers, naturally fermented wines, kombucha, and food from Dashi and others. The event will be held in the Porter Room, Holy City’s event space, from 5-9pm. Buy tickets here.
