New openings
Lots of new places to try this week, and so little room in this newsletter, so I’m going to do a quick round-up:
Madison Maison, a Champagne and caviar bar on Calhoun
Sundazed Cafe, a coffee trailer on Folly Road on James Island.
Vino Feo, Chico Feo’s wine window on their front patio, just opened! They’ve got pet nat and gildas, so I need to get there ASAP.
Lil’ updates
Rancho Lewis announced that they’re bringing back their Sunday brunch pop-up, permanently! Starting this Sunday, they’ll be serving up brunch from 11am-3pm. I went to their pop-up and had their huevos rancheros…so good.
De Mare Raw Bar had to push back the opening of their residency at the Daily by a week, so they’ll now be launching that on Friday, April 11th. Their hours will be Wednesday through Saturday, 5-10pm.
Last week, Ben and Kate Towill from Basic Projects announced that they’ve sold the Post House Inn and Sullivan’s Seafood and Bar (at which Chef Jason Stanhope just became a partner). Excitingly, especially for my fellow pescatarians, they’ll be “growing” Basic Kitchen, with an event space and a… COOKBOOK! Learn more in their post below.
Here are some other dishes and drinks that caught my eye this week:
Calling all beet lovers, or, more importantly, Office lovers. Delaney Oyster House’s new Schrute Smash is made with Bourbon, a beet root shrub, homemade grenadine, lemon, and mint.
Island Provisions’ Johns Island location has a new seasonal special: cauliflower toast with house made romesco, an avocado crema, roasted cauliflower, and feta, finished with micro cilantro and lime.
My beloved Sightsee just launched some new seasonal drinks: their espresso lemonade and their matcha spritz. Learn more about these in their post below.
Next time I go to Lillian’s, remind me to order this: the crispy maitake mushrooms, served with a creamy Kewpie deviled egg, furikake, and red cabbage.
That’s a wrap!
