Weekly Specials CHS: April 11-17, 2025
Celebrate the Masters, native plants, the pink moon, or local non-profit the Green Heart Project this week. Plus, where to find the MOST garlicky pizza, zucchini carpaccio, and S'mores cookies.
Happy Thursday!
If you still haven’t had a soft shell crab yet this season, I just updated my recent newsletter Softie Specials: Where to Find Soft Shell Crab in Charleston AGAIN! It now lists over FIFTY spots with soft shell crab! Pro tip: check in advance before you head somewhere seeking softies, though, to avoid disappointment, as places have limited supply and do sell out.
Wishing everyone a great rest of the Thursday and a fab weekend!

Lil’ updates
Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint on James Island has launched their Easter pre-order menu, and they’ve got classic dishes like deviled eggs, pimento cheese with homemade chips, and a scratch-made banana pudding (yummm). Check out the full menu here and get your order in by April 16th at 5pm.
Here are some other dishes and drinks that caught my eye this week:
Renzo’s “garlic lovers’ pizza” features lemon ricotta, mozzarella, asparagus, fried garlic, fried shallots, and…*drum roll please* garlic butter crust. It looks like this is currently on their menu as the Ricky Ricotta!
The Royal Tern’s strawberry pistachio tart is looking so gorgeous!
I love zucchini carpaccio, and the Ordinary’s take looks just perfect for spring. It’s served with Parmigiano Reggiano, pine nuts, mint, and basil…and now I need to make a reservation!
A great drink for a great cause: the Restaurant at Zero George’s Java & Juniper was created by Bar Captain Casie Fennell, and is made with Conniption Navy Strength Gin. The gin is infused with espresso beans, peppercorn, and lemon, and a dollar from each one sold is donated to the James Beard Foundation’s Women in Leadership Program.
Fiddler’s Fire has been doing rotating local greens with nước chấm sauce as part of their latest menu, and they’re currently cooking up bok choy with King Tide Farms wasabina (a Japanese mustard green) and pea greens…so perfectly verdant.
