🍂 Autumn Specials: NEW Fall Menu Items
Happy first day of fall! It's officially time for pumpkin EVERYTHING.
Happy first day of fall! Even though it doesn’t quite feel like fall yet here in Charleston, lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops are preparing for the pumpkin spice season with new menus. Below is a selection of the dishes I’m most excited to try this fall…don’t worry, they’re not all pumpkin spice flavored!
Am I missing a new fall menu from your favorite spot, or some dishes that you’re excited to try this season? Let me know!
Annie O Love’s Cafe
Annie O Love’s has dropped so many perfect fall-inspired vegan, gluten free, and processed sugar free treats for the season!
These include their “the Ultimate Pumpkin” Jar of Abundance pictured above, and their “Fall Into Love, Child” Cookie, which is a pumpkin brownie cookie with their vanilla coconut magic sauce, stuffed with a hunk of their pumpkin pie cheesecake!
Bright Light Bakery
Bright Light Bakery is a little newer to me, personally, but I just placed my first order this week! It’s a local cottage sourdough microbakery, and I love that they have downtown porch pick up on Wednesdays.
Some of their sourdough flavors and treats are perfect for fall, including their cardamom chai sourdough loaf, their pumpkin spice loaf, and their pumpkin chocolate scones.
The Daily
The Daily has just released their new fall menu across all of their locations (including Atlanta).
For breakfast, I’ll be straying from my usual breakfast pita this fall and switching to their “fall-ish” vegetable hash with sweet potato, butternut squash, charred mushrooms, market greens, romesco, an over easy egg and chives.
For lunch, their fall-ish grain bowl sounds like the move: Anson Mills farro, half an avocado, roasted delicata squash, charred mushrooms, greens, pickled onion, herbs, and a spicy coconut-tahini dressing finished with some Za’atar.
Finally, I LOVE to try the Daily’s seasonal coffees, and their sweet potato souffle latte sounds so cozy and comforting. It has sweet potato and fall spice syrup, onyx espresso, marshmallow whip (!!!), and steamed milk.
Edmunds Oast Restaurant
Their pumpkin cream pie seems like the perfect ending to any meal this fall! It has a graham cracker crust and is topped with maple whipped cream and sprinkled with candied pecans.
The Harbinger
Okay, I NEED to try their apple tahini loaf bread with halva glaze, granola and black sesame, plus they have a new salad featuring chili peanuts, pomegranate and Brussels sprouts.
I’m also interested in their beet pesto farro, which has parm, toasted pistachio, parsley, chives, and a beet pesto dressing.
Finally, in case that’s not enough fall flavor for you, their granola bowl this season has a pumpkin compote with blackberries and cinnamon sugar apples!
Harken
I’m really excited about Harken’s new salads that were announced a couple of weeks ago, particularly their sweet potato miso pasta salad with cavatappi, roasted peppers, tomatoes, black sesame, parm and a sweet potato miso sauce. I’m also digging the idea of their honey mustard chickpea salad with Brussels sprouts, black olives and marinated sundried tomatoes.
If you’ve got more of a sweet tooth, they’ve got you covered, too. Their spice cake (pumpkin spice cake with vanilla buttercream) is back, and they have a pumpkin chai muffin! I am a Harken muffin devotee.
Herd Provisions
I love when Herd Provisions releases a new vegan (and gluten-free!) dish! Their newly added coconut red curry features chickpeas, local autumn squash, tomatoes, coconut, and jasmine rice.
Kultura
Kultura announced their new fall menu a few weeks ago (you can see the full thing on their IG highlights here and on their website here).
If you’re one of those people who only eats oysters during months that end with “r”, then you’re in luck, as Kultura has added a new oyster small plate: their talaba, with Lowcountry cup oysters, coconut-ginger leche, grapes, and Thai basil oil.
I also love that they’ve updated their scallop adobo and curry dishes. Their scallop adobo now comes with shaved zucchini, honey garlic and herbs, and their curry features red snapper with a carrot salad.
La Bonne Franquette
La Bonne Franquette just dropped a new fall cocktail menu! Some highlights include the l’automne: cranberry infused tequila, PAMA pomegranate liqueur, cinnamon clove syrup, orange juice, and lime juice.
I also love a fat-washed cocktail, and while I don’t eat meat, I bet that many will enjoy their maple bacon old fashioned, made with bacon fat-washed bourbon, maple extract and demerara sugar.
The Muffin Drop
My favorite vegan and gluten-free muffins just came out with a new seasonal flavor: pumpkin pie! You can likely find these every Saturday at the Charleston Farmers Market, or order a box online.
Vern’s
Vern’s is constantly updating their menu based on what’s in season, but in the next few weeks, I’m especially excited to try this new veggie dish pictured above, made with marinated field peas, shishito peppers, walnuts, and leeks.
Wildflour Pastry
Wildflour Pastry recently released their fall menu on their website here.
They’ve got so many of the classics…they added pecan pie and maple pumpkin pie to their menu, plus a new cake: pecan cake with caramelized apples and a maple Italian buttercream (also avail in a gluten-free version!)
They’ve also got maple pecan danishes (pictured above) and a couple of fall-inspired sweet breads: spiced apple pecan bread and frosted pumpkin bread.
That’s a wrap!
Let me know if I forgot anything, or if you want an updated version of this list later this fall!
